Project, wisdom tooth and covid

Last week before the 3-week holiday and I prepared a project with Grade 9. Of course, it was all about Harry Potter as they wished it. I divided the class into the real Harry Potter houses and the first task was to draw their house's coat of arms. Then I asked the other teachers, my colleagues to vote for the best one - which one they liked the best. You can see, here is the end product. (9A and 9B - therefore the 2 sets of drawings).
They of course had other tasks, as well: they had to plan their magical beast and draw it, then present it, bring a passport picture and then draw themselves as a Hogwarts-students and I managed to find some wordsearch for them, as well.
I'm not a genius or anything to have found out these many activities for them, I got them from here . Please use them in your class, too - they are really cool! :-) In 9A, Ravenclaw got the first place, whereas in the other class Gryffindor came to the first place! Congratulations, guys! :-)

On the last day, as planned before, I went to the dentist to remove one of my two remaining wisdom teeth. It went surprisingly well. Imagine, I have never before had this experience, but the dentist asked about all of my existing medical history: I told him the heart disease and also my thyroid problem (which latter hopefully belongs to the past), and his first thing was to give me an antibiotics in order to prevent me from periocardiac something (a really dangerous infection). I am no doctor, so I don't really understand what this is but if I understood it correctly, I could get infected by blood (if the wound is not healing properly or anything) and it can easily go to my heart.

Well, I must tell you, the doctor was SO but SO talented... he took away the tooth in 10 minutes (!!!), and I didn't feel any pain (nor did I hear any SCRATCH! sound which I was mostly afraid of - more than the whole process, itself). I paid 1300 baht (roughly 13 000 Fts) and this included the tooth removal, X-ray and the medicine (both before and after!), as well! The X-ray room was something fantastic: automatic information was given there and the nurse basically only switched on the device. The doctor worked with two nurses. The X-ray picture from the X-ray immediately arrived from the device to the doctor's computer and he kindly explained everything to me on that. I'm very very satisfied with his work! On the top of it, I didn't need to take any of the painkillers, I still have no pain (or I put immense amount of ice on my cheeks). As I'm typing these lines, the wound has significantly shrunk and I am able to eat something solid, as well (today I only ate soup and some eggs). I could already have a hearty laugh, as well, without remaining pain in my cheeks or jaw! Yay! :-) (I take the doctor for it, I think his hands were so soft and worked so well, he was really talented in quickly removing my tooth. Which is funny, because if I remove the remaining one, as well, 2 of my teeth remained in Ecuador, and the other two will stay here, in Thailand. :-) ) I'll stay present in these continents.

However, of course, it wouldn't be life during the pandemic if we hadn't found out that in a province next to Bangkok, there were found 500 (!!!) cases of COVID.(It's quite a shock as it used to be 1-2 local cases nowadays and only 10-20 cases who were coming from abroad.) Now, we're thinking with my friends:

We would leave for a completely different province on Tuesday. But the problem is that the infected province is so close to Bangkok and from Bangkok it will spread so fast - especially that it's a holiday everywhere now and the Thai Govt. hasn't cancelled yet all the New Year's Eve parties.... but it's okay. These places will be always there and we can visit it in another break, too - it doesn't necessarily have to be this week. :-) I just already imagined myself in the ocean, with coconut cocktails in my hands. But don't worry, pictures will come later! :-D

I wish we could go , but of course, safety first! In this case, you'll hear a lot about what I'm reading in these 3 weeks without school! :-)

Here is the article and the continutation you can read here. In the meantime, Bangkok Post has also published it.
