Two stories

- 1-

Once upon a time, there was a little boy, who only knew his own world. He lived in Thailand and all he ate was rice. He was happy like that, but once, he had the opportunity to travel around and visit other cultures, as well when he tried something else. He knew, it was temptation, he still tried the new bakery in the other country, and he tried cheesecake there.
From then on, all he wanted to eat was cheesecake, so even when he was going back to his little village and his home, and was greeted with rice by his Mom, he could not eat it anymore with as much taste and love as he used to.

Moral of the story: you can try something out and be tempted forever after that, but be aware that the things you got used to before won't be the same afterwards.

- 2 -

Once upon a time, there was a mermaid. She used to live in the sea and eat oysters. She loved oysters, in fact. However, she really wanted to have THE oyster - as it was told to her once she was a child. Her mum, her dad, everyone told her that one day she would also find a pearl in her oyster, like the others did, so naturally, she expected that from every shell she broke then afterwards.
As it happened, there came the day, when she found her pearl: however, she was, by that time, so busy with her own life and so distracted, that instead of noticing it and cherish it, she did not notice that it was a real pearl. Instead, like normally, she proceeded to eat it with the oyster itself. When the others told her, "Silly mermaid, it was your pearl", she threw a tantrum, but the thing was done, and nothing could be done about it.
Months have passed and one day, she found another pearl in one of the shells, too. She was so excited, that her hand started to shake, so the pearl fell down and it got crushed immediately. The little mermaid shed some tears upon it, but the case was done and nothing else could be done.
Months have passed again, but then she started to realize that life was what it was and one cannot expect everything. She started to grow bitter about finding the perfect pearl, so she decided that should she find a pearl once more, she would deliberately ruin it and just enjoy her life to the fullest without it. As it happened, the next day as she broke her shell, she found another pearl in it. As she was chewing on it, she remembered her promise to herself: she immediately spat her pearl out - realizing it wasn't even tasting that finely. She threw it behind her back, and started to live happily after.

Moral of the story: Life is so much better without expectations. Also, when we constantly look for connections, we might have the illusion of having found the perfect connection for us - whereas we're just lonely and crave for attention. Time to let go of this and experiencing real life. Real connections will find us anyway. :-)

"You don't want to cheat, yet, you want what doesn't belong to you. " (Shakespeare: Macbeth, Act I., Scene 5).
