Taro taro taro!!!!!

 



One of my early discoveries is Taro - it looks like sweet potato honestly. Its Latin name is Colocasia esculenta but don't even ask me where it comes from and where it originates from. I don't know. It's tasty, yummy, creamy, and here in Thailand, they produce chips, (crisps), cakes, cream, puffy sticks - or what you want from them! It is very very similar (for me) to yucca (cassava) from Ecuador.

When I lived next to the school, I discovered these hot buns. It has different fillings, you can see the one here with taro. (But there are different ones, my favourite ones were - besides taro - filled with pineapple or grape jam, but there were ones with soy, chicken, chilly pork and so on). But taro! I can't even describe its creamy taste. 

Now I'm living in town already. (More info later.) But, look at this, today's discovery!!!!!

Quarantine Diary part 2. Moody day

  From today on, Hungary's borders are shut down and just today it dawned on me that if I wanted to, if I really wanted to (or had to?), maybe I couldn't even go back home (or it would be difficult anyway). I was just lying in the bed until 3 am, thinking: what have I done? I am in a foreign country, a foreigner, alone, and I don't even speak the language. Will I manage? What if something happens to me? How will I make myself understood? (Even when sometimes I cannot understand myself.) We can put it nicely, but the hotel still feels like a prison sometimes. We are controlled to so much extent that we are even have to give a prior notification when we want to leave our rooms. Which is still reasonable, but you get it.  10 000 kilometers already sound too much, but given the conditions, now it even seems more. I know, I have to give time to things. I know I can also change and I will as well. According to Haemin Sunim (his book is highly recommended, Love for Imperfect Thing...

My New Year Resolution

 I should have more time for friends and I should work less. That's it! I could write a lengthy paragraph about how to be grateful for what we have but I wouldn't feel it honest - there are so many traumas that people go through every day, plus, I was also hit by my - usual - New Year anxiety. I remember when I was a child, I always cried when the national anthem was playing. Part of it was because of patriotism (ha-ha), but I really did feel so touched by it all the time! Another part is this uncontrollable and unexplainable fear of the future. I don't know why I was afraid of it, but I was. I would say now that I was afraid of the unknown. I was afraid of the possible scenarios, what could happen. That causes a lot of anxiety, I realize it now, but I also realize that we need to take one step at a time.  By the way, the way Thai people celebrate the New Year, is slightly similar to that of Ecuador. It's a more intimate celebration than Xmas (of course, as people here ...
